Thing 8

Well, I signed up for Bloglines (RSS Feeds). I'm not sure it's something I'll use much and I have to wonder how popular it really is.
After signing up I started doing some searching for a feed that I would actually like to read once in a while.... so after thinkin' and thinkin' I decided I would like to read more home decorating/home building/gardening articles. So what better place than Home And Garden TV or DIY network? Both of these offered feeds, which I subscribed to, but both of them show the latest article is from 2007!!
Then I tried another home decorating website (something I'd never heard of before) and it too dated to 2007 as the newest feed.

hmmm.....is there a conspiracy here?

  1. Natalie, try searching for home decorating, etc. posts on technorati.com - it is a blog search engine. I bet you find more - and more recent stuff there.

  2. Oh my gosh! My opinion is that RSS is probably the most valuable of all the things you'll learn about in the 27 things! It is SO convenient to have everything you are interested come to you instead of having to check back on your favorite sites. Check out the Common Craft video on RSS (just google "common craft" rss and you'll find it) ; it is a great introduction to this extremely valuable tool!

  3. In response to your comment on my blog, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about RSS at first!! Now I'm starting to get the hang of it (slowly but surely), with the help of Bloglines. OH, and I found a neat home design/home decorating feed called Design Milk. It's very artsy-fartsy, but maybe you'll like it too:

  4. I don't really know if this is the best way to communicate on here or not either, but there's no "Message Me" link like there is on Facebook & Myspace. I think that'd be awesome if you built up your blog so that you had a following!! And with your house just now being built it's the perfect time to start! I know this site has RSS capabilities, I just have no idea how to activate it... I tried looking around to see if I could find anything but didn't have any luck. While looking through the top 1000 on Bloglines I found an awesome little decorating blog called "Making it Lovely" that I thought you might like.

And in her little site she has links to other ones. Oh all this blog stuff is starting to be a lot of fun!
